Annie Merkle,
MA, President and Founder
Annie Merkle has eighteen years of business experience with expertise in management development, change management, and organization development. Her specializations include organization assessment, facilitation, program design, and coaching. She draws from her broad experience with the pharmaceutical, transportation, technology, education, financial and professional services sectors.
In 2001, Annie founded The AMI Solution, Inc., a consulting firm that delivers organization effectiveness and change management solutions. AMI provides guidance and support to clients, including customized programs to manage organization transitions, organization design, leadership coaching, training programs, and facilitated interactive work sessions. In 2005, Annie became an affiliate of The Exetor Group as a facilitator and coach for many of their global leadership development programs.
Prior to AMI, Annie was vice president of corporate development at TechSpace, where she led the development of a business support infrastructure to help incubate start-up tech companies. Previously, she was a senior consultant with Ernst & Young's business transformation consulting practice. Annie began her career with FedEx in their information technology division and served as a trainer, business analyst, international project manager, and change management specialist.

Susan Ward, PhD, Principal
Susan Ward heads AMI’s internal operations and client
focused process and strategy projects. She has a broad range
of experience including reengineering and team effectiveness
and expertise in data collection and analysis. Susan came
to AMI from American Express where she led internal reengineering
and strategy projects. She spearheaded programs in professional
skill development and project planning which increased the
overall project effectiveness. Prior to American Express,
Susan focused on global alliances as an independent consultant
with the American Stock Exchange. She began her consulting
career at Mitchell Madison Group/MarchFirst where she led
an international team in the planning and development of a
new business venture, performed strategic and market analysis,
and developed comprehensive sourcing solutions.
Susan joined AMI in 2003. She received her PhD, MPh, and MA
from Columbia University and has a Bachelor of Arts from Wellesley
College. While at American Express she received a number of
awards for her work in reengineering and team effectiveness.
